LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky men’s golf junior Mads Kristensen, posted a tournament-best score of 7-under-par 64 on the final round of competition to finish tied for sixth at the Danish Stroke-Play Championship in Denmark on Sunday. The event was played at par 71 at the Hjørring Golfklub in Hjørring, Denmark.

Kristensen headed into the fourth and final round Sunday at 7-over-par and in a tie for 19th, but after his impressive round of 64, he jumped into a tie for sixth for the top-10 finish. The native of Denmark posted an even par 71 in the opening round, followed by a 6-over-par 77 and a 1-over-par 72 in the second and third rounds, respectively.

The UK junior posted eight birdies in the final round and finished the four-round tournament with 15 birdies, 44 pars, 11 bogeys and 2 double bogeys.

Kentucky’s only foreign player on the roster, Kristensen played in seven events with a season-stroke average of 74.90 last season. In the Firestone Invitational, his first event of the season, Kristensen finished tied for 34th for his best finish of the year. A two-time Academic All-Southeastern Conference selection, Kristensen carded his best round of the year at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, posting an even par 71 in the opening round. Kristensen played in the last five events of the season for Kentucky, including the SEC Championships where he helped UK finish sixth.
