A couple of football-related links to check out as I head home for the day.

– Keenan Burton, who we profiled on here a few weeks ago after he created a scholarship for at-risk youth, is way ahead of schedule in his recovery from a season-ending knee injury he suffered last year. According to a story on stlouisrams.com, the official website of the Rams, Burton is already participating in OTAs, well ahead of the original training camp schedule he was given. “They told me before I went in for the surgery that there was no way I’d be back before training camp,” Burton said. “They said training camp is probably my best shot and up to this point I haven’t even missed an OTA.”

– We’ve heard the story of the Rich Brooks to Joker Phillips transition before, but I thought I’d put a link from another perspective as well. This one comes from David Jones of Florida Today. Jones talks about the continuity of the program with Phillips as well as the historical significance of the Southeastern Conference’s second black head coach. “It is amazing and I’m also proud, being a Kentucky native, also,” Phillips said in the story. “For the three major universities in the state of Kentucky to hire African-Americans and give all of us an opportunity at the same time is amazing.”
