LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari and his staff will travel around the state of Kentucky in June and August to teach the game of basketball to the youth of the Commonwealth with an upcoming series of basketball instructional day camps.

The tour will include 10 sessions in five cities, beginning with a June 14 stop in London (North Laurel HS) and Williamsburg (Whitley County HS). The tour will head to Somerset (Southwestern HS) and Danville (Danville HS) for a session in each location on June 15, followed by stops in Elizabethtown (Elizabethtown HS) and Bardstown (Bardstown HS) on June 16.

After a nine-day hiatus, the camp tour will resume for a day on June 25 in Louisville at St. Xavier HS and Christian Academy of Louisville.

The 2010 satellite camp tour will conclude on Aug. 5 in Mason County (Mason County HS) and Newport (Newport Central Catholic HS).

The camps, which will include instruction from the Kentucky Basketball coaching staff, allow participants to learn the game of basketball through a fundamental, intensive learning environment. The camps will give individuals the chance to learn more about the game of basketball, introducing drills that can be used at home.

Open to children in kindergarten through sixth grades, each session will also help the individuals develop positive attitudes, as well as gain more confidence on and off the court.  In addition to learning the game, participants will receive a Kentucky Basketball t-shirt, as well as opportunities for autographs and photos.

The fee for each camp is $75 per child. Online registration is available. All camps will open at sites one hour before check-in. For more information, please contact the Kentucky Basketball office at (800) 852-2875.

Due to NCAA regulations, schools are only permitted to hold basketball camps within 100 miles of their home campus.
