Registration Extended for Second Annual UK Hoops 5K Run/Walk

Lexington, KY – Join the Kentucky women’s basketball team and coaching staff in the Second Annual UK Hoops 5K Run/Walk Saturday, June 19 at 8:30 a.m. ET. The race is set to begin and end at Memorial Coliseum. UK football head coach Joker Phillips will serve as this year’s honorary starter of the race.

Online registration has been extended and will remain open until Friday, June 18 at 4 p.m. ET. The cost is only $20 per participant. Race day registration also will be available Saturday, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Joe Craft Center ticket office. The cost on race day is $25 per participant, cash or check only.
Season ticket holders who participate will have their race entry fee applied as a credit to their 2010-11 women’s basketball season tickets. All other registrations will go towards the “Winning Tools Ticket Program”, an opportunity for kids to experience UK women’s basketball games throughout the season.
In addition to the run/walk, the day will feature interaction with the women’s basketball players and coaches as well as entertainment, food and activities for families and children.
Prizes will be awarded for runners in age divisions and for both male and female overall winners. Prizes will also be awarded in three age divisions for walkers.
Parking will be available in ANY “E” or “R” lots surrounding Memorial Coliseum. All lots will be off patrol due to summer break as well as the weekend timing. If arriving late, plan to access the “E” lot near the Wildcat Lodge from Martin Luther King Avenue or the “R” lot near the Craft Center using the Rose Street entrance. Lexington Avenue will be shutdown to vehicle traffic to help us prepare the Start/Finish area.

UK Hoops Hosts 2nd Annual 5K Run/Walk

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Join the Kentucky women’s basketball team and coaching staff in the Second Annual UK Hoops 5K Run/Walk Saturday, June 19 at 8:30 a.m. ET. The race is set to begin and end at Memorial Coliseum.
The 5k run/walk was introduced last year as the “5K for 5K” and proved to be a great success. Over 200 runners/walkers attended the event, helping UK Hoops sell over 5,000 season tickets, a new school record.
“Our staff and team had such great time at last year’s 5K run/walk that we couldn’t wait to do another one this year,” UK Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell said. “We look forward to seeing everyone on June 19 and I hope they’ve been training because I plan on winning the 5K race this year.”

Registration is only $20 and those who register before Monday, June 14 are guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt. The $20 entry fee will be applied to 2010-11 season tickets for season ticket holders. Information on how to purchase 2010-11 UK Hoops season tickets will be announced at a later date.
