LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s swimming and diving team enjoyed a night of food, laughter and a look back at the 2009-2010 athletic seasons with the rest of the Kentucky student athletes at the annual CATPSY Awards. An awards show based off of the popular ESPY Awards, honors the University’s top athletes, plays of the year, community service projects and academic honors.
The UK women took home one of the more prestigious team honors of the season. Head coach Gary Conelly’s women were honored as the top academic team of the entire athletic department in front of their fellow student athletes, coaches, administrators and staff.
Kentucky’s women have a collective team grade point average of 3.48 – the highest of any male or female sport.
“We are all extremely pleased and proud of our women’s team for winning this honor at the CATSPYS,” Conelly said. “These ladies lead a demanding life as athletes and for them to win this academic honor in addition to all of their athletic accomplishments speaks volumes about their dedication and hard work.”
