LEXINGTION, Ky.- The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team departs for Auburn, Ala. Thursday to face one of two Alabama teams the Wildcats will take on this weekend. Kentucky sees the Auburn Tigers on Friday, March 26 at 3:30 p.m. ET at Yarborough Tennis Center. On Sunday, March 28 the Wildcats return home to host the Crimson Tide of Alabama at 1 p.m. ET at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center.

The Blue and White return to Southeastern Conference action after a brief lapse, splitting matches with the non-conference Colonels of Eastern Kentucky (W, 5-2) and the Buccaneers with East Tennessee State (L, 3-4).

Veteran doubles duo of senior Christine Johnston and junior Megan Broderick extended their winning streak to four matches after defeating ETSU’s Kelly Holtzhausen and Andra Voinea 9-7. Broderick/Johnston were victorious against both rival schools during the 2008-2009 season beating Auburn’s Fani Chifchieva and Myrthe Molenveld 8-3 and the Tide’s Paulina Bigos and Taylor Lindsey 9-8.

The Blue and White pair played with different partners when they faced Alabama during the 2009 ITA Kickoff Weekend and the Wildcats rolled over the then-No. 24 Tide 4-3.

The Wildcats have a 20-7 all-time record against Auburn and are 24-8 over Alabama.

The Tigers enters Friday’s match with a 7-5, 1-3 SEC record having recently routed South Carolina 4-3. The Crimson Tide will see Vanderbilt at home on Friday before facing Kentucky. Alabama stands at 7-7 and having no SEC successes after four bouts.
