VALDOSTA, Ga. – With 24 holes to complete on the second day of competition, the University of Kentucky women’s golf team concluded the inaugural Kinderlou Forest Challenge in 15th with a 953 (313-322-318) Tuesday at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club (6,265 yards, par 73) in Valdosta, Ga. In the final day of competition, teams played the final six holes of the second round and a third round of 18.

Play was suspended at 6:30 p.m. EST Monday with two to six holes remaining for most teams. The Wildcats entered the second and final day of competition in 14th.

Freshman Betsie Johnson concluded the event as the top Wildcat in a tie for 31st. With a 12-over-par 231 (74-79-78), Johnson registered Kentucky’s low score in the first round. In her final 18, Johnson went 4-over-par on the front nine and recovered from two bogies on the second nine with a birdie on par three No. 15.

Finishing the event at 21-over-par 240 (78-76-86), senior Kristin Vincent led the Wildcats in the second round with a 3-over-par 76. As Kentucky’s low scorer in the third round, sophomore Ashlee Rose came in two strokes behind Vincent, carding a 242 (79-87-76).

With a 79 in the final round, freshman Ashleigh Albrecht finished with a 239 (83-85-79), while senior Sara Hurwitch carded a 249 (82-82-85).

Tulane University finished the event in first with a 13-over-par 889 (293-296-300) behind a 2-under-par performance by TU’s eventual individual champion, Janine Fellows (74-73-70).

Kentucky returns to action March 12-14 when it travels to New Orleans for the Tiger/Wave Classic hosted by LSU and Tulane.
