LEXINGTON, Ky. — Winners of two consecutive matches to finish the regular-season, the Kentucky rifle team returns to action with the NCAA qualifying round Saturday and Sunday, hosted by UK at Barker Hall.
Kentucky (8-3) wrapped up the regular-season with a pair of wins over Nebraska and Ole Miss. The Wildcats own a 5-1 record this season at Barker Hall, with the lone loss coming at the hands of traditional power Alaska-Fairbanks.
“We are excited to get back out on the range,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “The team has been working very hard, seeking to improve our scores towards the end of the regular-season. It is going to be a challenging weekend and we are going to need to come out focused and driven to reach our goals.”
The Wildcats will begin the competition Saturday at 8 a.m. ET as UK will shoot smallbore and will resume at 10:30 a.m. ET with air rifle. UK’s Ethan Settlemires, Katie Fretts, Logan Fox, Tom Csenge and Heather Greathouse will shoot during the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. relays. At 1 p.m. ET Saturday, UK will also shoot smallbore, shooting air rifle at 3:30 p.m. ET. Several UK shooters will compete in the afternoon relays Saturday, including Ashley Jackson, Megan English, Jen Pason, Stacy Wheatley and Leslie Angeli. Sunday, UK’s James Jasis and Sarah Broeker will compete in both guns, shooting smallbore at 10:30 a.m. ET and air rifle at 1 p.m. ET.
After the NCAA qualifying round, UK will return to action at the Great American Rifle Conference Championships, hosted by Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss., Feb. 20-21.
