LEXINGTON, Ky. – Capping off Friday night’s Rod McCravy Memorial at E.J. Nutter Field House, Kristin Smith pummeled her personal best and her own varsity record, previously set at 64-01.75, with a throw of 67-03.50.

Smith’s throw improves her previously set provisional qualifying mark and stands just half a meter away from being the first NCAA automatic qualifier in UK history in the weight throw event.

Kristin Smith is the University of Kentucky varsity record holder in the weight throw and the hammer throw events.

Smith a senior from Marietta, Ga. finished the 2009 indoor season with second-team All-SEC honors in the weight throw. In the outdoor season she was a 2009 NCAA Mideast Regional Finalist and NCAA Outdoor Semifinalist in the hammer throw event.
