LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky rifle team will return to league action, hosting Great American Rifle Conference foe Ole Miss Saturday at UK’s Barker Hall.

Kentucky (6-3) enters the match ranked No. 4 nationally, with three losses on the year coming to the top three ranked teams, including a setback against Alaska-Fairbanks Tuesday at Barker Hall. The Wildcats got a good pressure-filled performance from Megan English in the 4656-4649 loss to the Nanooks.

“We are looking forward to getting back out on the range and competing against a good Ole Miss team,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “Ole Miss has a great team and it is going to be really important for us to come out focused on putting up a good score. We need to continue to push to get our scores higher, particularly in smallbore, where we have left some points out on the board the last few matches.”

The Wildcats will again offer a comprehensive live blog and in-match scoring for the match with Ole Miss, unprecedented coverage for collegiate rifle. UKathletics.com will have live electronic targets for fans to follow along with their favorite shooters and the live interactive blog to keep the fans thoroughly informed.

In the match with Alaska-Fairbanks, English had a 588 in air rifle while shooting on the final relay with UK in striking distance of the top-ranked Nanooks. Seniors Ashley Jackson and Tom Csenge also had solid days against Alaska-Fairbanks, with Jackson leading UK with a 589 in air rifle and Csenge mustering a 579 in smallbore and a 587 in air gun. Freshman Katie Fretts posted a 584 in air rifle.
