WEST POINT, N.Y. — Behind outstanding performances from seniors Ashley Jackson and Jen Pason, the Kentucky rifle team posted a 4672-4621 win over the Army Black Knights, Saturday at the Tronsrue Markmanship Center.

Jackson totaled a 583 in smallbore and a match-high 592 in air rifle, while Pason finished with a match-best 584 in smallbore, adding a 587 in air rifle. Senior Tom Csenge added a 585 in air rifle and a 577 in smallbore, while sophomore Ethan Settlemires contributed a 576 in smallbore.

“This performance today was just where we need to be to start the spring season,” UK assistant coach Stacy Underwood said. “We have a tough week ahead of us with a very good Alaska team Tuesday and conference foe Ole Miss Saturday. This team performance was reflective of all the hard work the team put in during training camp before the start of the semester.”

Logan Fox also had an outstanding day, totaling a 587 in air rifle, finishing fifth overall in the match. UK had the top seven performers in the match in air rifle, while Jackson and Pason leading the way in smallbore. Sophomore Megan English finished with a 586 in air rifle, with Katie Fretts charting a 589 in air rifle and freshman Heather Greathouse posting a 577 in smallbore.

Kentucky (6-2) returns to action Tuesday, hosting annual national power Alaska-Fairbanks at Barker Hall. The win over Army opened the spring season for the Wildcats, who totaled a 5-2 record in the fall portion of the campaign.
