LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky football team reported to Nashville on Tuesday and resumed preparations for the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl with a two and one-half hour practice at Vanderbilt on Wednesday.
“It was sluggish,” Coach Rich Brooks said. “I had to yell a little bit too much but finished pretty good with some third-down work against the defense.
“I’m really excited about this opportunity. Clemson is a very, very good football team and we’ve got to really play well to have a shot at beating them.”
Asked about the progress of injured quarterback Mike Hartline, Brooks said, “They (Hartline and Morgan Newton) threw the ball better than they did earlier in the practice in Lexington. He (Hartline) had no swelling after four straight days of practice and he has a shot at taking some reps (in the game).”
Kentucky will practice on Wednesday and Thursday before taking on Clemson on Sunday, Dec. 27, at 8:30 p.m. EST (7:30 p.m. CST). The game will be played at LP Field and will be televised by ESPN.
