Team Records and Series Notes
- Kentucky moves to 5-0 with the win, while UC Santa Barbara is now 0-4.
- UK is 5-0 to start the season for the first time since 2005-06 when the Wildcats opened 8-0. Kentucky has tied the school mark for wins in November with five. The 1984-85 squad also won five times in November.
- The Wildcats are 2-0 all-time against UC Santa Barbara and 5-0 against teams from the Big West Conference.
- Up next: UK Hoops returns home to play host to McNeese State, Saturday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast live on the Big Blue Sports Radio Network with Neil Price.
- UK owns a 580-447 all-time record in 36 years of varsity women’s basketball.
- Matthew Mitchell’s career mark improves to 68-61, including a 38-32 record at Kentucky. Mitchell is 2-0 all-time against the Big West Conference with both victories coming against UC Santa Barbara.
Team Game Notes
- The Wildcats scored 22 points off 25 USCB turnovers. It marked the third time this season UK has forced the opponent into 20-plus turnovers.
- Key Run: Kentucky started the second half on a 7-2 run to go up 42-30 on a Carly Morrow three-pointer at the 16:19 mark. Morrow contributed five points during the spurt. The Wildcats’ lead never dipped below 10 points the rest of the game. UK’s largest lead 62-44 came on a layup by Amber Smith at 4:15.
- Kentucky hit 4-of-11 from the 3-point line has now hit a three-pointer in 189 consecutive games, dating back to 2003-04.
- For the fifth consecutive game Coach Mitchell started Amber Smith, Victoria Dunlap, Amani Franklin, Carly Morrow, A’dia Mathies.
- Kentucky received a lift from its bench, outscoring the Gauchos, 26-8.
Individual Game Notes
- Junior forward Victoria Dunlap scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-13 field goal shooting to go along with five rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot. Dating back to last season, Dunlap has scored in double digits in 12 consecutive games and swiped at least one steal in 13 consecutive games.
- Senior forward Lydia Watkins led all reserves with 10 points. It marked her first double-digit scoring effort of the season after sitting out the first three games due to injury.
- Junior Amani Franklin hoisted a season-high three steals.
- Franklin’s free-throw miss in the first half ended a streak of 22 consecutive made free throws dating back to last season. The streak tied for the sixth-longest in school history.
- Junior point guard Amber Smith handed out a season-high seven assists, just one short of her career high.
- Freshman guard A’dia Mathies led all Wildcats with six rebounds.
