Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky improves to 4-0 with the win, while UTC is now 1-3.
  • UK is 4-0 to start the season for the first time since 2005-06 when the Wildcats opened 8-0.
  • The Wildcats are 8-0 all-time vs. Chattanooga and 13-0 against teams from the Southern Conference.

  • UK owns a 579-447 (.564) all-time record in 35 years of varsity women’s basketball, including a 313-138 (.694) mark at Memorial Coliseum.
  • Matthew Mitchell’s career mark improves to 67-61, including a 37-32 record at Kentucky. Mitchell is 2-0 all-time against the Southern Conference with both victories coming against Chattanooga.

Team Game Notes

  • Kentucky rallied from a 39-30 first-half deficit and overcame a season-low 39.3 field goal shooting effort to remain unbeaten on the season.
  • The Wildcats posted four players in double figures, led by freshman guard A’dia Mathies’ 14 points. Kentucky has seen at least four players record double-digit scoring efforts in all four contests this season. 
  • Key Run: Kentucky pushed away from Chattanooga with a 13-2 spurt over a six-minute span, starting with a basket from freshman forward Brittany Henderson with 9:09 remaining. UK took the lead for good at 50-49 when A’dia Mathies connected on two free throws at the 7:40 mark. Henderson’s two free throws at 3:32 gave the Wildcats a 61-51 advantage.
  • Kentucky has now hit a three-pointer in 188 consecutive games, dating back to 2003-04.
  • For the fourth consecutive game Coach Mitchell started Amber Smith, Victoria Dunlap, Amani Franklin, Carly Morrow, A’dia Mathies.

Individual Game Notes

  • Freshman guard A’dia Mathies posted a team-high 14 points in the game. She also had five rebounds and charted season-bests in steals (four) and blocks (three). The Louisville native has scored in double figures in all four games this season, including a season-high 18 points at Morehead State (Nov. 17).
  • Fellow freshman Brittany Henderson registered her best collegiate game to date with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting with six rebounds and two blocked shots.
  • Sophomore guard Rebecca Gray scored 10 points on 4-of-8 field goal shooting. It marked her second double-digit scoring contest of the season. She hit one three pointer and has hit at least one three in all four games this season.
  • Senior forward Lydia Watkins saw her first action of the 2009-2010 campaign, tallying six points and three rebounds. Watkins missed UK’s first three contests with a shoulder injury.
  • Junior forward Victoria Dunlap posted 12 points on 6-of-11 field goal shooting. She managed four rebounds, marking her first game this season without a double-double. Dunlap has scored in double digits in 10 consecutive games, dating back to last season.
