LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky gymnastics team kicks off the 2010 season with the annual intrasquad Blue-White Scrimmage Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET in Memorial Coliseum.
Admission to the meet is free and seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The squad will also be available to sign autographs after the event.
The scrimmage is the first event in an exciting 2010 home schedule for the Wildcats. Hosting six regular-season meets, Kentucky is set to welcome Southeastern Conference opponents Alabama, Arkansas, Florida. Alabama took second place at the 2009 NCAA Championship and first at the SEC Championship., while Florida took fourth and Arkansas placed fifth.
Highlighting the 2010 home schedule is the NCAA Central Regional Championship. Kentucky hosts this season’s regional April 10th at Memorial Coliseum. Despite being the host school, the Wildcats must earn one of the five regional berths.
Returning 11 gymnasts from last season, freshmen Caitlyn Ciokailo, Rachel Sarnovsky and Caitlin Satkowiak join the Kentucky squad. Seniors Jacque Behrendt, Hillary Ferguson, Emily Green, Jamie Reimann and Emilie Rymer will highlight this season’s team.
