LEXINGTON, Ky. – Quarterback Morgan Newton has been chosen as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Newton, a true freshman from Carmel, Ind., completed 20 of 29 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns, all career highs, as Kentucky defeated Eastern Kentucky, 37-12.  Newton led a balanced attack, with more than 200 yards rushing and passing, as UK generated 444 yards total offense.  Newton guided the team into scoring territory on six of the seven possessions he played.

Newton is the sixth Wildcat to earn a player-of-the-week honor from the SEC this season, along with Trevard Lindley (Defensive POW vs. Miami), Derrick Locke (Special Teams POW vs. Louisville), Corey Peters (D-Lineman POW vs. South Carolina), Micah Johnson (Defensive POW vs. Auburn) and Jorge Gonzalez (O-Lineman POW vs. ULM).

Georgia Game to be Televised by ESPN or ESPN2: The Kentucky at Georgia game on Nov. 21 will be played at 7:45 p.m. and be televised on ESPN or ESPN2.  The decision of which channel will carry the game will be made following the results of this week’s games.

“Cat Walk” Set for 9:05 a.m. Central Time: Fans wishing to participate in the “Cat Walk,” cheering the Wildcats when they enter Vanderbilt Stadium on Saturday, should be at Gate One of the stadium at 9:05 a.m. Central time (10:05 a.m. Eastern time).
