LEXINGTON, Ky. – After enjoying a lengthy layoff from the tri-meet held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center a few weeks ago, the Kentucky swimming and diving teams return to action on Friday. UK travels to Tennessee for a dual meet match-up with its Southeastern Conference foes in Knoxville at 2 p.m. ET.
The Kentucky men earned two victories during the last meet with wins over Southern Illinois and the University of the Cumberlands at the Lancaster Aquatic Center nearly two weeks ago. Senior Eric McGinnis scored a win in the 50-free in a time of 20.20 which is currently the best time in the conference. His classmate, Alex Forbes, posted a 20.57 clip which is the fifth best time among the league’s athletes at this point in the season.
On the women’s side, after an opening season victory over South Carolina UK’s women dropped a matchup with Arkansas in its last major competition. Like the men, Kentucky’s women also earned a victory over the Cumberlands. UK diver Lisa Faulkner captured his first two victories for the Blue and White against the Razorbacks. The junior ranks among the top-five in the conference with early season scores.
A season ago the Volunteers traveled to Lexington with both Tennessee squads earning wins over UK. The two squads have competed in every season under UK coach Gary Conelly.
