WINDERMERE, Fla. — Posting a 1-over-par 73 in the final round, Kentucky men’s golf senior Jordan Blann led the Wildcats to their best round of the tournament in the third and final round of the Isleworth Colleigate Invitational on Tuesday.
Blann’s 73 in the final round is the lowest score of the tournament for the Wildcats. Blann was Kentucky’s best finisher after the first round. The native of Bowling Green, Ky., moved 14 spots up the leaderboard in the final round to finish tied for 39th. The senior started the final round on the back nine, drawing attention when he birdied three of the first six holes played. Blann was 3-under-par at the turn.
Junior Brian Belden also posted three birdies in the final round to finish the tournament tied for 47th. Belden shot a 4-over-par 76 in the third round, the same score he carded in the second round. The junior started his final round by posting birdies on two of the first four holes.
Senor Ben Fuqua saved his best round of golf for the final round by posting a 2-over-par 74. The native of Danville, Ky., finished the tournament tied for 50th. Fuqua started the round in a tie for 60th, jumping 10 spaces up the leaderboard in the final round.
Freshman Joseph Barr and junior James Kania completed the scoring for the Kentucky rotation. Barr, seeing his first action in the Kentucky rotation, posted four birdies in the final round to finish 65th. Kania, who has played in every round for Kentucky this season, finished the tournament in 70th.
As a team, the Wildcats finished in 15th. Kentucky shot a 301 for the third round, one of the best team rounds of the final day. The round was also the best round of the tournament for the Wildcats, improving 10 strokes from Monday’s score. The overall tournament was won by No. 1 Oklahoma State. Alabama’s Bud Cauley won the individual title.
