IRVING, Texas — Kentucky senior goalkeeper Dan Williams has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for the league-record tying sixth time in his career, it was announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Williams, a native of Fairfax, Station, Va., has been named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week a league-record equaling six times in his 68-game career. South Carolina senior goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer has also earned six-career C-USA Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Saturday night in Columbia, S.C., Williams saved three shots, while facing 10 total South Carolina shots, leading UK to a 1-0 win over the Gamecocks, ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA RPI. Wednesday night, Williams saved a season-high five shots at No. 7 Louisville.

On the year, Williams has posted a 0.85 goals-against average in 14 games and 1271 minutes. He has saved 36 shots and charted four shutouts. In his sparkling four-year career, Williams has a 1.10 goals-against average with 203 career saves and a 35-23-9 career record. Williams, a 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association All-Region selection, ranks among the UK career leaders in saves (203; fourth), shutouts (18; fourth) and goals-against average (1.10; fourth).

Williams, a two-time All-Conference USA selection by the league coaches, leads the conference in goals-against average, also ranking second in the league in shutouts.
