3:58 — One final AU push results in a shot from King, but Burton makes the save as the time expires. FINAL SCORE: UK 2, AU 1

3:57 — One minute remaining and UK is killing time in the corners.

3:55 — Lipsitz receives a yellow card for unsporting behaviour after the official repeately stops the clock after fouls.

3:53 — Corner kick to Auburn taken by Frierson is cleared out by Novikoff back to the Frierson who dumps it back in, but UK clears it out of the box and AU is whistled for a foul.

3:51 — UK’s defense on Frierson has been exemplary as she’s managed only one shot in the second half and hasn’t been much of a factor.

3:47 — Kentucky continues to go on the attack instead of packing it in to protect its lead with under nine minutes remaining.

3:40 — UK GOAL!! Jenna Goblirsch centered a ball into the box that Novikoff misdirected with a header just inside the far post for her first goal of the season and a 2-1 UK lead.

3:36 — The momentum has shifted following the Auburn goal as the Tigers have clearly controlled the pace of the game and spent the majority of the time in UK’s defensive third.

3:29 — AU goal ties it at 1-1. King wound up with ball and beat Burton 1-on-1 for the equalizer.

3:28 — A UK foul is called about five yards outside the 18-yard box. Frierson takes the kick and fires it high of the goal.

3:25 — Jenna Goblirsch has been moved to the backline to help protect the lead. However, the Wildcats haven’t missed a beat at the top and have been as aggressive as they’ve ever been.

3:23 — AU whistled for foul, Kildare takes the free kick just inside the mid field line. She sends a perfect service into the box that A. Browning heads, but right at Howard for the save.

3:21 — AU taking its second corner in the last minute, but the kick hits the side of the goal resulting in a UK goal kick.

3:20 — UK has come out firing in the second half, mounting several scoring opportunities but coming up just short.3:07 — Kentucky starts the second half with the same starters, with the exception Laura Novikoff playing for Brooke Keyes.

2:51 — As the final seconds tick off the clock, the momentum has shifted to the Tigers as they controlled the ball over the final several minutes. However, UK goes into the half with a 1-0 lead.

2:49 — The Auburn offense starting to get more looks as King had an open look at the top of the box firing a shot but right at Burton.

2:47 — The Tigers generate another opportunity, servicing a ball to the middle of the field in the box that was headed by Cate right at Burton for the save.

2:45 — The Wildcat bench was just issued a yellow card. It was UK’s third yellow card of the first half. Some of the calls have been a bit questionable.

2:29 — Auburn corner kick is knocked by Burton, but not far enough away. A tiger player was there for a follow on an empty net, but the shot went wide left. A UK turnover resulted in another AU shot, but Burton made a diving save to knock the ball away.

2:25 — Wildcats get the game’s first corner kick…taken by Kildare but it’s cleared away by Auburn…Stack followed with a chip shot from 30 yards, but it landed in the arms of Howard for the save.

2:20 — Auburn whistled for a foul just outside the 18-yard box…Kildare tapped the ball to Lopez who fired a shot through the Auburn wall, but right at Howard for the save.

GOAL KENTUCKY!! Auburn whistled for another foul, Kildare takes kick and lofts a ball in front of the goal where Lopez headed it in for the goal.

2:15 — Lipsitz also mentioned before the game that Auburn is beginning to come into its own and be the team a lot of people thought they would be. He believes when it’s all said and done, the Tigers might be the best team in the league, but it all runs through Frierson.

2:11 — Right now Katie Fahey is man-marking Frierson and doing a good job of not allowing her to possess the ball. Frierson did get a shot off off from about 25 yards out, but it sailed well over the goal.

2:09 — Auburn has the game’s first legitimate threat when a pass over the top of the UK defense was chased down by Caitlin King. King was one-on-one with Burton who came out charging. King fired a shot from about 10 yards out, but Burton made the save.

2:06 — Before the game Coach Lipsitz said that Auburn’s Katy Frierson is the key to the game. He thinks she’s the best playmaker in the league and that showed in her stat line Friday night against Vanderbilt with three assists.

2:04 — Most of the action has been in the Kentucky attack zone, but no scoring opportunities have present themselves for the Cats.

2:03 — Beautiful day on the Plains…clear sky, temperatures in the mid to upper 50s…the win is gusty though, about 15 mph from the North…Kentucky currently has the wind at its back

1:55 — Goalies: Auburn-Amy Howard; Kentucky-Laura Burton…Burton is making her first start and appearance this season. It is her sixth career appearance and fifth career start.
