LEXINGTON, Ky. – A pair of starters, senior offensive tackle Justin Jeffries and junior cornerback Paul Warford, could return to action during this week’s game at Auburn, Coach Rich Brooks said following Thursday morning’s practice.

“Warford made it through practice again,” Brooks said.  “He’s a little sore. His status will probably be determined in the pregame warm-up as far as if he can play, how much he can play. Jeffries has made it through again as well, so his status will be about the same up into the pregame.”

Warford has missed the last two games because of a strained quadriceps muscle.  Jeffries did not play at South Carolina last Saturday because of a strained Achilles tendon.

Brooks also said that the starting quarterback would not be announced until game time, but that Will Fidler and Morgan Newton are each likely to see playing time.  Tailback Alfonso Smith, who played on special teams last week but did not carry the ball because of a sprained thumb, may get some rushing attempts vs. the Tigers.

Kentucky travels to Auburn on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. ET game which will be televised by ESPNU.

R. Cobb, Conner are Game Captains: Senior fullback John Conner and sophomore wide receiver Randall Cobb are the game captains for this week’s contest at Auburn, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.

Game captains are usually chosen on the basis of performance in the previous game. Cobb totaled 229 all-purpose yards against South Carolina last Saturday, including a rushing touchdown and receiving TD.  This is the second-consecutive week that he has earned the game-captain nod.  Conner rushed three times for eight yards against the Gamecocks and had an excellent game as a blocker.

Cobb and Conner will join permanent captains Zipp Duncan and Corey Peters at the pregame coin toss.

“Cat Walk” Set for 4:15 Central Time: Fans wishing to participate in the “Cat Walk,” cheering the Wildcats when they enter Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, should be at the Northeast corner of the stadium, near Lot P along Duncan Drive, at 4:15 p.m. Central time (5:15 p.m. Eastern time).
