LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The UK men’s tennis team will compete in the University of Louisville Winter Invitational this weekend in the River City at the Cardinal’s Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The tournament features three divisions in both singles and doubles with main draw and consolation play. The field includes 11 teams from around the region: Eastern Kentucky, Indiana, IU-Southeast, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, Western Kentucky, Wright State and Xavier. Action begins at 9:00 a.m. ET Friday.

Last week the Cats participated in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships. Sophomore Eric Quigley made an impressive quarterfinal run in the tourney by defeating four ranked opponents during a six-match win streak. Quigley’s defeat of top-ranked Oleksandr Nedevyesov of Oklahoma State was the highlight of the week in Tulsa. No. 70 Quigley also defeated No. 9 Sanam Singh of Virginia, a 2009 NCAA Men’s Singles Semifinalist.

In doubles, Quigley and junior Brad Cox paired up to also advance to the main draw quarterfinals after two victories. The Wildcat dup is ranked No. 24 in the fall ITA rankings.
