LEXINGTON, Ky. – Center Jorge Gonzalez and fullback A.J. Nance are the game captains for Saturday’s contest against Alabama, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.
Game captains are usually chosen on the basis of performance in the previous game. Gonzalez played well vs. Florida last Saturday. Nance was selected for his work on special teams, which featured tackling UF’s Brandon James for a five-yard loss on a punt return.
Gonzalez and Nance will join permanent captains Zipp Duncan and Corey Peters at the pregame coin toss.
P. Warford Not Expected to Play: Junior cornerback Paul Warford is not expected to play on Saturday against Alabama, Coach Rich Brooks said after Thursday morning’s practice.
Warford sustained a strained quadriceps muscle last Saturday in the Florida game. Brooks said that Randall Burden will start at cornerback, Taiedo Smith will see more action as a nickelback, and Cartier Rice and Martavius Neloms could see more playing time at cornerback.
