LEXINGTON, Ky. — Fresh off hauling in a top-10 recruiting class for the second consecutive season, the Kentucky baseball team opened the team portion of fall practice with an intrasquad scrimmage, Wednesday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Kentucky opened the 2010 baseball campaign with a fall practice scrimmage, with the teams playing several innings to open up team practice Wednesday.

Several pitchers saw action Wednesday, including returnees Mike Kaczmarek, Matt Little and Chase Greene. Newcomers Joe Devine, Walter Wijas and Kyle Jackson also each hurled an inning.

Offensively, the scrimmage saw a solo home run from freshman catcher Michael Thomas, a native of Elizabethtown, Ky. Thomas, a right-handed hitter, popped up the first homer of fall practice over the right-field fence for the first run of the contest. The game also saw an RBI bunt single from senior centerfielder Keenan Wiley and a two-RBI single from each Chris Bisson and Cory Farris. After each of their respective run-scoring singles, Bisson and Farris immediately swiped second base. Bisson, a 2009 first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection, led the Cape Cod League in stolen bases during the summer.

UK will also hold two intrasquad scrimmages during the weekend, beginning Friday at 3 p.m. ET and resuming Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The scrimmages are open to the public.
