LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s basketball fans are invited to the third annual “Day in the Park with Matthew Mitchell” presented by the Victory Club on Sunday, Aug. 30 at Veteran’s Park in Lexington. The event is free of charge and will feature food, inflatable games, music, and a meet and greet with the Wildcat coaches and players. It will take place at Shelter No. 4 from 3-5 p.m. ET.

The event is the third of five planned for the summer and fall to help break the current season ticket record of 4,808 set in 2005-06. The entire season ticket campaign is called “Drive for 5K.” Season tickets, which cost just $45 for 17 exciting home games in Memorial Coliseum, will be on sale at the park.

“We’ve had two very successful events (5K for 5K and Coach’s Kitchen Live) in our ticket drive as over 1,100 new season tickets have already been sold,” Mitchell said. “We invite everyone to come to the park on Aug. 30 to meet our team and purchase their season tickets. It’s going to be an exciting season and we need everyone’s help to reach our goal of 5,000 season tickets.”

This year’s entire schedule, which will be released later this month, is highlighted by matchups against first-time opponent Boston University in the season opener on Nov. 13 and intrastate rival Louisville on Dec. 20. The Southeastern Conference schedule also will feature eight home games compared to seven in previous years, as the league has adopted a 16-game slate beginning in the 2009-10 season.

Please note that season ticket renewal forms have been mailed and should be expected to arrive soon. The deadline to renew and keep current seats is Thursday, Sept. 10.

Directions to the park from campus: take Tates Creek Road South past Man-O-War. Turn right on Clearwater Way. Follow Clearwater past Veterans Park Elementary and make a left at Southpoint Drive. Take the second left into Veterans Park after the baseball fields. Follow the road through the park to Shelter No. 4.
