ST. LOUIS – Incoming freshman Ashleigh Albrecht advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Women’s Amateur, after shooting a 7-over-par 149 (73, 76) in the event’s qualifying rounds Monday and Tuesday at the Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis, Mo., Tuesday.

The tournament advances the top 64 golfers from the stroke play qualifying rounds. Albrecht earned the No. 51 seed, and tees off against the No. 14 seed today at 1:50 p.m. CDT.

Albrecht, a native of Murrieta, Calif., was one of 46 players to earn exemptions from the event. She earned her position after qualifying for the U.S. Women’s Open on June 11 in the U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifying rounds at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, N.C., There, she carded a 2-over-par 146 (76, 70).

Senior Kristin Vincent failed to advance to match play after posting a 13-over-par 155 (76, 79). Vincent, a native of Burlington, N.C., missed the cut by four strokes. She qualified for the event July 16 at Walnut Grove Country Club in Dayton, Ohio, after carding a 75.

U.S. Women’s Amateur action continues through Monday with the championship round. The Golf Channel will air today’s matches beginning at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
