ROME – Senior Elvis Burrows continued to impress at the 2009 Roma World Championships, Wednesday, when he posted another career-best time. This time Burrows notched a top time in the 100-freestyle.
Just days after setting a personal-best time in the 50-butterfly in which he finished 26th overall in the world, Burrows returned to the water in the 100-free.
Enterting the meet he charted a 52.43 time. Among the world’s elite swimmers, Burrows docked nearly two seconds off that time in today’s finish. He scored a 50.88 time in the preliminary rounds this morning. Although, the time did not qualify him for the finals in the event–a two second drop in a time is an incredible feat.
Burrows will continue to represent his native country of the Bahamas later in the week. Friday, Burrows will compete in both the 50-free and 100-fly, two of his marquee events.
