The Kentucky women’s soccer team has announced its 2009 schedule, which includes five conference home dates and 11 total matches at the UK Soccer Complex.
UK will face nine schools that played in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, as well.
The Wildcats will kick off the Jon Lipsitz Era with four straight home games including the season opener on Friday, Aug. 21 against Cincinnati, followed by another home date against in-state rival Louisville on Saturday, Aug. 29.
UK will also host ACC power Wake Forest on Sept. 4. The Demon Deacons finished the 2008 season ranked 24th in several polls. In addition, UK is making a trip to Austin, Texas to take on the powerhouse Texas Longhorns on Sept. 13.
The Wildcats will also host the Akron Zips as well as the UK Tournament which includes matches against Western Kentucky and Tennessee Tech.
In conference play, Kentucky is set to host Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Arkansas and Ole Miss.
For the seventh straight season, the SEC will hold its postseason tournament in Orange Beach, Alabama. This year’s tournament is scheduled for early November, running from Nov. 4-8.
