LEXINGTON, Ky. – Wide receiver/quarterback Randall Cobb took his first full contact of spring practice on Wednesday and came out in good shape, Coach Rich Brooks said following the morning workout at the Tim Couch Practice Fields.

Cobb has been recovering from an injured knee that required arthroscopic surgery in December.  He had been participating in non-contact work prior to Wednesday’s practice.

“Not at all,” Brooks said when asked if Cobb favored the joint any during practice.  “He got tackled several times.  He looked like he came out of it fine.”

Cobb is playing at wide receiver primarily but also is seeing time at quarterback and as a punt returner in order to take advantage of his versatile playmaking skills.  Cobb started at all three positions at various times during his freshman season in 2008 and earned SEC Coaches All-Freshman team at QB.

In other news, redshirt freshman tailback Coshik Williams sustained a bruised shoulder during practice.  He will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.  UK’s starting quarterback, junior Mike Hartline, has shown improvement in the elbow tendinitis that has hampered him recently.

“He (Hartline) is not as crisp throwing the ball but it did settle down a little bit,” Brooks reported. “Now he has to get back in the groove of throwing again.”

Kentucky returns to the practice field on Friday.  The team’s second major scrimmage of the spring will be on Saturday.

Spring Practice Calendar: Practices are open to media and fans.  Practices are held at the Nutter Training Facility unless noted otherwise.  Practices might be moved indoors to the Nutter Field House in case of bad weather.
