ATLANTA – The Kentucky track and field teams travel to Atlanta this weekend to take part in Georgia Tech’s Yellow Jacket Invitational on the George C. Griffin Track.

Competition begins Friday at 6 p.m. EDT with the men’s and women’s hammer throw competition. Action resumes Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for field events, one hour before running events start.

Others schools participating this weekend include Clemson, Chattanooga, Connecticut (women), Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Michigan (women), Middle Tennessee State, Tulane (women) and the host Yellow Jackets.

Last week at Arizona State’s Baldy Castillo Invitational, the Wildcats collected 11 NCAA regional-qualifying marks in the first meet of the outdoor season.

Four UK seniors collected multiple NCAA marks last weekend.

Thrower Ashley Muffet led the way with three marks in the women’s hammer throw, discus and shot put in Tempe. As a result, she leads the SEC in all three events. Fellow senior Ashley Trimble posted regional-qualifying times in both the women’s 100m and 400m hurdles last week.

On the men’s side, sprinter Jose Acevedo made the NCAA cut in both the 100m and 200m dashes. Senior thrower Chase Madison collected two NCAA marks in the shot put and discus at ASU.

Classmate Rashaud Scott achieved an NCAA mark in the men’s discus while breaking the Invitational record with a throw of 212-9. Sophomore Colin Boevers also collected a regional-qualifying mark last week.

Scott, Madison and Boevers rank atop the SEC in the men’s discus after one week of outdoor competition.
