Team Records and Series Notes

  • UK improves to 4-1 while Long Island falls to 3-3 overall.
  • UK is now 2-0 all-time vs. LIU. The teams also met in 2002 at the Hawaii Invitational.
  • UK is now 83-36 all-time in regular-season tournaments. This is UK’s 27 th tournament title in school history and the first since winning the Wells Fargo New Year’s Classic in San Antonio, Texas in 2006.
  • Senior point guard Carly Ormerod was named Most Valuable Player, averaging a team-high 12.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in the two games. Sophomore point guard Amber Smith was named to the All-Tournament team, averaging 10.5 points and 4.5 assists in two games.
  • The Wildcats embark on a brutal stretch next week as they prepare to play three games in five days. UK will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio Tuesday, Dec. 2 to face No. 25 Xavier at 7 p.m. ET before facing intrastate rival Western Kentucky Thursday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. ET in Bowling Green, Ky. UK returns home Saturday, Dec. 6 against Furman in Memorial Coliseum at 2 p.m. ET.

  • The starting lineup of Carly Ormerod, Eleia Roddy, Amber Smith, Brittany Edelen and Victoria Dunlap is now 3-0.
  • Key run: Trailing three points with less than a minute remaining, Amber Smith and Victoria Dunlap charted key steals and UK outscored Long Island 5-2 in the final 39 seconds to win 46-43.
  • There were seven ties and 10 lead changes in the game.
  • A day after shooting a season-high 55.6 percent from the field vs. Yale, UK shot a season-low 27.9 percent (17-of-61) against Long Island.
  • UK held LIU to 31.4 percent shooting in the game. It was the fourth consecutive game the Cats have held the opponent under 50 percent shooting from the field, the second time this season to hold them under 40 percent.
  • UK outscored LIU 28-18 in points in the paint and 17-2 in bench points.
  • For the first time this season the Wildcats were outrebounded. LIU won the battle of the boards, 46-41.
  • UK forced 20 turnovers in the game. The Cats have forced double-digit miscues in all five games this season.
  • UK hit two three-pointers in the game and has now hit at least one trey in 158 straight games.

Individual Game Notes

  • Senior center Eleia Roddy was the only Wildcat in double-digit scoring. She netted a season high-tying 12 points. She also scored 12 vs. Cincinnati.
    • Grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
  • Junior guard Amani Franklin pulled down a season-high eight rebounds to go along with her eight points.
  • Sophomore forward Victoria Dunlap charted a career high-tying five steals. She also had five steals vs. George Washington in 2007.
  • Senior Carly Ormerod hit one three-pointer in the game, giving her 93 career three-pointers. She needs five more to move up to No. 9 with Christina Jansen.
  • Junior Jackie Sanders played a season-high seven minutes and scored her first points with a three-pointer in the second half.
