LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky football team returned to the practice field Tuesday morning with a two-hour workout in the Nutter Field House.

“We didn’t go in full gear, but we got some good fundamental work done,” Coach Rich Brooks said. “We got to look at a lot of the young guys, in addition to the experienced guys. We’ll do that for a couple more days, then give them two days off (Friday and Saturday). We’ll probably start introducing some things on Tennessee tomorrow and Thursday. We’ll have a full practice on Tennessee on Sunday.”

Brooks also gave further discussion to the junior-varsity game played on Monday, when the Wildcats defeated Fork Union Military Academy, 55-28.

“A lot of guys helped themselves,” Brooks said. “Getting game film on them, in which you can show them what they did right and what they did wrong and what they need to work on, will register a lot more than it does in a practice, because it happened in a game situation.”

Brooks said that senior defensive end Nii Adjei Oninku is expected to start in place of Jeremy Jarmon, who sustained a knee injury against Vanderbilt and underwent arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday. Oninku has 14 tackles in a reserve role this season. With defensive tackle Ricky Lumpkin also injured against Vanderbilt, Brooks also noted that defensive linemen Antwane Glenn, Shane McCord and Austin Moss could move up in the playing rotation.

Kentucky (6-5 overall, 2-5 Southeastern Conference) has an open date this week before closing the regular season at Tennessee on Nov. 29.
