TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team begins the end of its fall tournament schedule at the Southeastern Fall Coaches Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Thursday, Nov. 6. The four-day tournament is hosted by the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.

The event provides a fall showcase for SEC women’s tennis, featuring 10 of the top-60 teams in the nation, according to the May 23 Fila/ITA ratings. Eight teams finished last season ranked in the country’s top-30.

The tournament consists of four singles draws of 16 with both a front and back draw along with two doubles draws of 16 teams with front at back draws. Match play begins Thursday at 5 p.m. (ET) with doubles only. Friday, Saturday and Sunday all have 10 a.m. (ET) starts.

Previously, the Wildcats took part in the ITA Regional Championship hosted by Wake Forest. Five members of the UK team competed in the main draw, including freshmen Caroline Lilley and Jennifer Stone who advanced through qualifying singles. Kentucky’s Megan Broderick, ranked No. 55, moved on to the singles Round of 16 but fell in a three-set duel to No. 40 Catherine Newman of Vanderbilt.

The Cats’ number one doubles tandem, No. 16 Carolina Escamilla and Christine Johnston, also made the Round of 16 in doubles but suffered defeat to Clemson’s Keri Wong and Ida Hedziselimovic.
