LEXINGTON, Ky. – Patrick Patterson and Jodie Meeks were both named to the 2008-09 Coaches’ preseason All-SEC teams as announced by the league office Monday.

Patterson was one of two unanimous First Team All-SEC choices, along with Vanderbilt’s A.J. Ogilvy. The 6-9 sophomore was also listed as a First Team All-SEC selection at SEC Media Day in Birmingham, as voted on by various league and national media. Patterson is UK’s leading returning scorer and rebounder from last season, averaging 16.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in his freshman campaign.

Jodie Meeks was selected Second Team Preseason All-SEC. Last season, Meeks averaged 8.7 points per game in limited action due to injury. He led Kentucky with a team high 32 points in the Blue/White scrimmage on Saturday.

The Wildcats open regular season play on Friday, Nov. 14 when they host the VMI Keydets.
