LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior wide receiver DeMoreo Ford returned to action during Tuesday morning’s practice and is expected to play against Arkansas, Coach Rich Brooks announced.
Ford (LaGrange, Ga.) injured his sternum/clavicle joint while being tackled in the end zone on a 48-yard touchdown reception at Alabama. He missed last Saturday’s game vs. South Carolina. He is the most experienced wideout on the team now that Dicky Lyons is out for the season because of injury.
However, Brooks also reported that sophomore wide receiver Kyrus Lanxter sustained a sprained knee in Tuesday’s practice and appears doubtful to play against the Razorbacks.
The Wildcats (4-2 overall, 0-2 SEC) play host to Arkansas (3-3, 1-2) on Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
Lindley, G. Williams are Game Captains: Offensive tackle Garry Williams and cornerback Trevard Lindley will be the game captains vs. Arkansas, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.
Game captains are typically selected on the basis of performance in the previous game. Williams (Louisville, Ky.) played well in last Saturday’s loss vs. South Carolina. For the season, Williams has helped the Wildcats lead the Southeastern Conference and rank seventh nationally in fewest quarterback sacks allowed. Lindley (Hiram, Ga.) intercepted a pass against the Gamecocks and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown. He also had a pass breakup, extending his school career record to 30 PBU, and had three tackles, including one for loss.
Williams and Lindley will join permanent captains Tony Dixon and Braxton Kelley at the pregame coin toss. This will be the third time this season that Lindley has earned the game-captain honor and the second time for Williams to be selected.
