LEXINGTON, Ky. — With top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships eight consecutive seasons, the Kentucky rifle team opens its 2008-09 season with the Ohio State Buckeyes, on Saturday at Barker Hall.

“We are very excited to open up the 2008-09 season with Ohio State,” head coach Harry Mullins said. “Our team has been working very hard and is driven to reach its goals this season. We need to come out and show a solid effort and put up some good scores against a solid Ohio State team.”

The Wildcats, who finished fifth at the 2008 NCAA Championships, will begin their 2008 season with a Saturday tilt with Ohio State. UK will be led by its four-member junior class and its lone senior, with 2007-08 two-time first-team All-American Tom Csenge leading the way.

Senior Andrew Roland and juniors Leslie Angeli, Jen Pason and Ashley Jackson will be counted on to lead its star-studded underclassmen. Sophomores Sarah Broeker, Logan Fox and Clint Sejkora and freshmen Ethan Settlemeyer and Megan English round out the Wildcat roster.

Last year, UK edged Ohio State 4649-4505 in the season-opener for both teams. The Wildcats posted a 2314-2225 advantage in smallbore and a 2335-2280 mark in air rifle.
