SOUTH BEND, Ind. – On a beautiful autumn day for cross country, the University of Kentucky cross country teams battled deep, quality fields at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on the university golf course Saturday.

Sophomore Adam Henken led the Wildcats with the best finish on the day. Henken completed the five-mile course in 24:18 to finish 28th overall. Freshman Colin Heenan was the second UK man to cross the finish, clocking in at 24:42 in 62nd place. Senior Bruce Hordusky (25:19 – 121st), junior Jeremy Zagorski (25:32 – 139th) and senior Chris Long (25:44 – 152nd) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats. The men finished 22nd overall as a team.

On the women’s side, senior Jessica Ortman led the Wildcats across the finish line for the third consecutive meet this year. Ortman ran the 5K course in 17:22 to finish 42nd overall. Sophomore Katherine Peterson ran an impressive race coming in 53rd place in a time of 17:33. Senior Jenna Ortman finished 67th crossing the line at 17:41. Senior Andrea Halasek (17:59 – 93rd) and Lindsay Petri (18:11 – 106th) were the final Wildcat scorers. The women placed 16th overall in the field.

Florida State took home both the men’s and women’s titles on Friday.

UK will be in competition again in two weeks.
