After day one, Kentucky is fourth after strong play from seniors Ben Fuqua, tied individually for fourth, and Andy Winings, tied for sixth, in the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate hosted by Vanderbilt University September 26 through 28 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Arkansas State leads the Wildcats by one stroke with a first-round total 283, followed by Southeastern Conference foes Vanderbilt with a 283 and 11th ranked, according to Golfweek, South Carolina with a 281. Kentucky is five strokes from the lead with a 285 after the first day.

Competing in his first tournament for the Wildcats is freshman Mads Kristensen. He came ready to play today firing a three-over-par 74, placing him in a tie for 36th. Also, tied for 36th is junior Brian Belden who carded four birdies today on a tough course.

Sophomore James Kania rounds out the scoring for Kentucky, shooting a 77. He is tied for the 70th spot.

Competing as an individual, junior Jordan Blann shot a seven-over-par, claiming the 78th spot on the leaderboard.

The Wildcats are seeking to add their seventh regular-season top-10 finish, out of the past eight tournaments, this weekend. Their streak dates back to the 2008 spring season opening Pat Hicks Invitational played last Feb.12-13.
