LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team continues the fall tournament slate with two tournaments beginning this weekend. UK sends three to Roberta Alison Classic is held from Sept. 26-28 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., while the ITA All-American Championship takes four Cats to the west coast Sept. 27-Oct. 5 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

The Blue and White’s No. 55 Megan Broderick, No. 83 Sarah Wöstmann, No. 118 Christine Johnston, and Carolina Escamilla will represent the Wildcats at the ITA All-American tournament. All four athletes saw action at the Gator Fall Classic in Gainesville, Fla., last week. Broderick and Wöstmann each advanced to the Flight A singles quarterfinals during tournament play at Florida while the No. 16 nationally ranked doubles team of Johnston and Escamilla made the doubles final cut.

The ITA Championship has three rounds of play. Pre-qualifying rounds take place at Pepperdine University on Sept. 27-28. Sixty-four singles and 32 doubles pairs must each win three matches to advance to the qualifiers on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.  Only 32 singles and 16 doubles team slots are available in the main draw held on Oct. 2-5 at the Riviera Tennis Club.

Three other Wildcats head to host school Alabama for the 22nd Annual Roberta Alison Fall Invitational. Sophomore Lauren Meier and freshmen Caroline Lilley and Jennifer Stone will stand in for Kentucky. Each player competed in Gainesville, Fla., at the Gator Classic. Stone reached the Flight B singles final round in her collegiate debut. Meier and Lilley each finished the weekend with three wins.

Eleven teams will be featured in the tournament with players from Alabama, Auburn-Montgomery, Georgia State, Kentucky, Memphis, Mississippi State, Murray State, Samford, Tennessee Tech, Tulane and UNC Charlotte. The three-day event is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET on Friday and Saturday with a possible Sunday start at 8 a.m. Flights will consist of eight players in singles and eight pairs in doubles.
