Lexington, Ky. – The UK women’s soccer team (1-3-0) continues its pressure packed early season schedule as they travel to Morgantown, W.Va. to take on the 14th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers (3-1-0) in a nationally televised contest on Fox Soccer Channel Thursday.

The match-up represents the third straight game against a top 15 program and the fourth in UK’s first five games this season.

“When we sat down and did our scheduling for this season, we wanted to put together the schedule that would best prepare us for conference play,” said UK head coach Warren Lipka. “I feel we’ve learned a lot about our team in the first few games, but most importantly we know what we need to continue to work on.”

West Virginia enters the match on a three-game unbeaten streak having defeated Loyola Marymount and Tennessee. The Mountaineers tied Washington State in their most recent outing. Deana Everrett leads WVU in scoring with five points and is tied with Megan Mischler for the team lead in goals with two each. West Virginia goalie Kerri Butler has posted a 0.56 GAA in five games this season, including three shutouts.

The Wildcats are coming off a rough weekend in North Carolina where they dropped a 3-1 decision to ninth ranked Duke and a 4-0 decision to No. 2 North Carolina. Freshman Jenna Goblirsch did record her first collegiate goal in the Cats’ match against the Blue Devils. Kentucky continues to be led offensively by Laura Novikoff. The 6-3 sophomore has tallied a team best five points on a team high two goals and an assist.

The Wildcats are playing their fourth straight away from home, in a stretch of five straight road games, their longest road swing of the season.

The Cats and the Mountaineers are scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. kickoff Thursday night. Fans can follow all the action on Fox Soccer Channel and at UKathletics.com.
