Student Season Tickets Sold Out: The excitement over the 2008 Kentucky football team continues to spark ticket sales, as student season tickets have sold out.

All of the 5,852 seats reserved for student season tickets have been sold, surpassing the previous record of 5,568 set a year ago.

The student sales are a part of the 53,400 total season tickets that have been issued for the 2008 season.  For the general public, less than 700 season tickets remain at a cost of $230 (upper level sideline) or $195 (upper level goalline) each.  At this time, the only way for the public to acquire tickets for the South Carolina and Georgia games is by purchasing a season ticket.

The UK Athletics Ticket Office, located in the Joe Craft Center, has extended window hours until the first home game.  Ticket office window sales will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, through Sept. 5.  Tickets also can be purchased online at www.ukathletics.com. The phone number is 800-928-CATS or (859) 257-1818.

Wildcat fans broke every school record for attendance last season:

  • total attendance of 550,588 in eight home games
  • average attendance of 68,824 per game
  • single-game record of 71,024 for the Florida game

Practice in the Mist: The Kentucky football team practiced for two hours Wednesday morning in unseasonable cool and misty conditions at the Nutter Training Center.

“We’re trying to get our assignments down and know what we’re doing,” Coach Rich Brooks said after the workout.  “We had the crowd noise today (during practice) as we know it’s going to be a noisy place (Sunday at Louisville ).  There were a few mistakes but there’s mistakes without noise, too, and we have to clear all of those up.  We’ll have it again tomorrow and make sure we’re ready to play.”

Brooks announced that junior wide receiver Demoreo Ford, recovering from a knee injury and having missed several days of practice because of his brother’s funeral, would be available for limited action at Louisville.  Brooks also said that freshman wide receiver Aaron Boyd continues to have non-contact work in practice, but there is no timetable for being released to full contact as he recovers from mononucleosis.

Kentucky returns to practice Thursday as the Wildcats prepare for the season opener at Louisville, which kicks off Sunday at 3:31 p.m.
