LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Coach Rich Brooks was pleased with the improvement shown by his team during Monday afternoon’s practice at the Nutter Training Center.

“I think we had a pretty good practice,” Brooks said. “They were flying around. There was some good physical contact. I liked the attitude. We’re still not where we need to be on either side of the ball but the offense is kind of hit and miss right now. We need to pick up the tempo and block a little better, get a little more consistency in what we’re doing on offense. We’re rotating a lot of people in there and that doesn’t help the situation, but there’s no excuse in not being more consistent.”

Brooks noted that freshman wide receiver E.J. Fields (Frankfort, Ky.) continues to be out indefinitely with a hamstring strain. Fields is one of several players vying for action at the wide receiver positions.

The Wildcats return to the practice field on Tuesday for a pair of practices.
