HYANNIS, Mass. — Playing in the most prestigious collegiate summer league in the nation, Kentucky junior outfielder Keenan Wiley has been named a Cape Cod League All-Star alternate, the league announced on Sunday.

Wiley, the only position player named an alternate for the East team, has swung a consistent bat for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, the team that former UK stars Collin Cowgill and Scott Green helped lead to the CCL Championship last summer. Wiley has hit for a .287 average (33-for-115) in 32 games, adding six doubles and seven RBI, stealing 9-of-9 bases.

Wiley is the second consecutive Wildcat to roam centerfield for Yarmouth Dennis, as Cowgill earned All-Star honors as the Y-D centerfielder last summer.

As a speedy leadoff man for UK, Wiley hit .327 in each his freshman and sophomore campaigns. Wiley, a native of Richmond, Ky., saw a team-best 254 at bats in 2008, reaching with 13 doubles, two triples, two home runs and adding 38 RBI.

Wiley?s game of the summer came as a 4-for-5, two-run outing vs. Falmouth. With his team trailing Falmouth in the ninth inning, Wiley came out of the centerfield and pitched the final 2/3 of the ninth inning, the first time on the mound for Wiley since before coming to Kentucky. Wiley, a left-handed thrower, allowed two hits and no runs, striking out one.

The Under Armour Cape Cod Baseball All-Star Game will be played on July 26 at Veterans Field in Chatham, Mass.
