Kentucky recorded its lowest round of the tournament Sunday at the SEC Championships in St. Simon?s Island, Ga. The Wildcats scored a tournament-low 295 to conclude the tournament in eleventh place with a three-day total of 893 (298-300-295). Alabama won the event leading wire-to-wire after shooting eleven-under par 853 (285-293-275).

Kentucky?s top two finishers were junior Andy Winings (Brownsburg, Ind.) and senior Cale Barr (Versailles, Ky.) who both finished tied for 25th with a three-day total five-over par 221. Winings shot 73-76-72 for the three-round championship and Barr shot 72-73-76.

“We are a very competitive team on the national scene,” Brian Craig said. “Unfortunately, we just don’t have quite the firepower to challenge in the SEC this year. I still look for this team to play well in the regionals and advance to the NCAA championship.”

Alabama?s Michael Thompson charged to the top of the leaderboard from his fourth-place second-day finish to claim top individual honors, firing a seven-under-par for the final round. Thompson?s three-day total of 208 (70-73-65) defeated South Carolina?s George Bryan IV and Alabama?s Joseph Sykora who were both four strokes off the pace grabbing the runner-up medal with a total score 212.

Sophomore Brian Belden (Emmaus, Pa.) finished tied for 40th ending the tournament with a low-round 72. Belden finished the championship with a score of 226 (78-76-72), while senior Ali Brad Doster also tied for 40th after firing a 226 (75-75-76).
