LEXINGTON, KY ? The UK women?s soccer team (0-1-1) scored a late goal to procure a 1-1 tie with Western Kentucky in the Wildcats? spring match on Saturday at the UK Soccer Complex.
After taking a scoreless tie into halftime, Western took 1-0 lead with 15 minutes left in the match, taking advantage of a Kentucky turnover at midfield.
The Wildcats evened things up on a Cindy Abbott goal with five minutes left in regulation. Nicola Holdsworth played a ball through the Hilltopper back line to Ashley Stack. Stack created some space between herself and the defense down the left side and then played an early ball in to Abbott, who made a well-timed run to stay onside and finish the play for the final 1-1 tally.
Kentucky continues its spring schedule this weekend when the Cats travel to Louisville to take on the Cardinals. Kickoff is scheduled for noon Saturday at Cardinal Park. Admission is free of charge.
