LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The No. 63 University of Kentucky men?s tennis team plays home-and-home matches with Southeastern Conference teams from Alabama this weekend. UK travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., Friday to battle the No. 23 Crimson Tide (13-5, 3-1) at 3:00 p.m. ET. Sunday, the Cats (6-8, 1-3) host the No. 22 Auburn Tigers (8-6, 2-2) at Boone Tennis Complex with first serve at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Kentucky is coming off of a 12-day break from competition. This weekend the Wildcats enter the busiest part of their dual-match schedule, playing six matches in 10 days.
Junior Bruno Agostinelli?s ranking improved to No. 48 in the latest ITA poll. He is the second-highest rated player amongst the Cats and their opponents this weekend.
Wildcat senior Will Ward boasts a 9-4 dual meet record this season and is 3-1 in the SEC after splitting two matches at No. 2 singles versus LSU and Arkansas. Ward is undefeated (3-0) in conference doubles play with partner and fellow senior Marcus Sundh in the No. 2 slot.
The Crimson Tide went 2-1 last week at the three-day Blue-Gray tennis classic in Montgomery, Ala., beating No. 62 Oklahoma and No. 54 N.C. State after falling to No. 36 Penn State. Alabama is led in singles by No. 85 Saketh Myneni and No. 88 Mathieu Thibaudeau. Thibaudeau and doubles partner Daniel Buikema are ranked 12th nationally.
