LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Three University of Kentucky track and field athletes earned Indoor All-America status from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced from its home office in New Orleans late Sunday.

With her eighth-place finish in the women?s 800 meter run senior Lavera Morris earned her second All-America honor of her career and her first indoor accolade. She was previously honored for her outdoor performance in the event in 2006. Morris finished with a time of 2:07.38, earning the Cats a point at the NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend.

Sprinter Jenna Martin finished sixth in the women?s 400 meter dash to collect her award. The sophomore?s time of 53.15 earned Kentucky three points at the Championships. This is the first All-America honor for Martin.

Long jump specialist Derrick Locke attained his first All-America honor with his 12th-place finish at the Championships. The freshman?s leap of 24-11 on his second attempt tied him for 11th overall. This is the first such honor for the reigning SEC Track and Field Male Freshman Field Athlete of the Year.

The top eight finishers in each event at the NCAA Division Indoor Track and Field Championships obtain All-America status. In the individual (non-relay) events, if one or more of the top eight finishers is of another nationality, U.S.-born collegians are selected until there are eight total in addition to any foreign-born All-Americans.

A tape-delayed recap of the NCAA Indoor Championships will be broadcast on ESPN2 on Thursday, March 20 at 2 p.m. ET.

Kentucky opens its outdoor track season Mar. 28-29 at Georgia Tech?s Yellow Jacket Invitational.
