AUBURN, Ala.– Freshman Stephen Andrews tallied a 697.10 score on the one-meter board to finish fourth overall in the NCAA ‘B’ Zone Diving Championships.
Kentucky’s divers are among the southeastern portion of the nation attempting to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Andrews’ fourth place finish today put him in strong contention for a bid to the NCAAs in his first season. The first year diver tallied a 338.35 score in the preliminary rounds this morning, and then scored 358.75 in tonight’s finals for his final score.
On the women’s side, senior Kari Retrum took fifth on the three-meter after taking sixth on one-meter Friday night. Retrum scored 294.60 in the finals heat for the fifth overall standing. Retrum tallied a 287.00 score in the prelims this morning.
The men and women will both be in action again tomorrow with the final day of competition with the platform event taking place. Divers are competiting to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
