LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky gymnastics team returns home for the first of its last two home meets. UK will host the No. 15 Nebraska Huskers Friday, Feb. 29, at 7 p.m., for Pink Meet in Memorial Coliseum.
Last time out, Kentucky took a trip to Athens, Ga. to face the No. 1 Gym Dogs. The Wildcats fell to the Dogs 197.675-194.800. However, in the last two weeks the Wildcats have scored their top two overall scores for the season and tallied three team season highs on vault, beam and floor. The Cats have also hit three 9.9?s or better on floor and vault.
Nebraska most recently beat out No. 13 Denver in Lincoln, Neb. 195.925-195.650. The Huskers were led by senior Emily Parsons who hit two 9.975?s on floor and vault.
Pink meet admission is only $1 for all fans wearing pink (additional general admission tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for youth/seniors). The Pink Meet is also UK Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night. All Kentucky faculty and staff, along with three additional guests will be given free admission with a valid ID. All proceeds generated at the event will go directly to the Markey Cancer Center.
The center also has dedicated outpatient chemotherapy suites open seven days a week to accommodate patient needs. General donations will be accepted and the first 250 fans who make donations will receive a pink backpack.
Kentucky fans can also enter a raffle to win a UK bike and can register to win Chick-fil-A for a year. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by an autograph session with UK?s junior class.
