CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.? Sophomore Emilie Rymer secured her second career all-around title, as she led a trio of UK gymnasts to come away with individual wins in their loss to Southeast Missouri State, Friday. The No. 18 ranked gymnastics team dropped a 192.625-191.875 decision in their first road contest of the season as they fell to Southeast Missouri State.
Rymer scored 38.825 points in the meet as she took top honors individually. The sophomore also earned her first career title on the uneven bars with a score of 9.775. Additionally, she posted scores of 9.700 (vault), 9.650 (beam) and 9.700 (floor) to edge out five gymnasts competing in each event.
Junior Heather Hite and sophomore Emily Green also gained titles for the second consecutive week. Green followed her first ever title on vault set a week ago in Memorial Coliseum with a win in tonight?s meet. Green scored 9.775 in Missouri, after registering a career-best 9.900 last week.
Hite notched a title on the beam and shared a three-way tie for the best mark on the floor. Her 9.850 beam score was a season-high tally helping earn her eighth career title in the event. She tied to Red Hawks for the title on floor, just as she tied two teammates against Auburn. Hite scored 9.750 on the floor exercise.
After the night?s first competition, the home team held a 48.400-48.225 over the visiting Wildcats. It was a lead Southeast Missouri State would never relinquish. Kentucky fared better than their competition on the beam, outscoring SE Missouri by a score of 48.275-47.600.
